KULIM, KEDAH, MALAYSIA

Beautiful home is not only aesthetically pleasing but also bonds families together.

A 12,000ft2 triangular site nested within an urban fabric with existing residential area on the North and newly developed landed houses on the South of site.

With vast area of oil-palm plantation within 100m radius on the West and scenic hill of Bukit Seraya on the far South & Southwest, 2 wings of the Villa with the longer sides of the facade are placed facing North and South to minimise solar heat gain, and also allow the home owner to enjoy the scenic views towards the hill.

The young home owner, who is the successor of the family business, intends to built a home where the retiring parents can stay over occasionally whenever they wish to.

The 2-storey house owner's West Wing aligns the enterainment zone on ground floor - foyer, living, dining, kitchen and dry kitchen in a spacious linear manner, with the service zone (wet kitchen, maid's room, washing and drying yard at the rear of the Wing. Private zone is located on the 1st floor. Master bedroom cluster and secondary bedrooms are sepearated by a long corridor for privacy.  Living hall is designed to have double volume in height, harvesting natural light and cross-ventilated when sliding glass doors are opened on both sides.

Parent's South Wing houses the bedroom quarters on ground floor, is also naturally lit and naturally ventilated with sliding folding glass door on both sides.

Both Wings are separated for privacies, and accessible to natural landscapes along the perihery of building, hence extending their indoors naturally to the outdoors.

Both Wings are also knitted by interstitial programs that bonds the generations together - the decked swimming pools in between 2 Wings, and a patio on ground floor.  Both families can interact seamlessly at the pool area and patio when curtains are drawn and sliding folding panels are pushed aside.

Patio and gym on the first floor have unobstructed scenic view at Bukit Seraya, while having private functions or working out.
