VILLA BAHARU
18

4,300 SQFT            2021

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT     ON-GOING

A series of vacant bungalow land plots with a desire to be sold for holiday villas, 3 plots of the prime lots are carefully selected for individual designed villas as show units to showcase the potential of a well-designed house is essential to well-beings of retirees or home-owners who travel back for short-term holidays.

Villa Baharu 18 is an design iteration in relation to Villa Baharu 19.

The house is longer in length.  With additional built-up areas, finished with materials of different colour palette, insertion of various architectural elements, is making the both houses "identical with differences".

Brickworks laid in Flemish Bond remains, however, off-white painted bricks instead of terracotta fairface bricks, in contrast to dark colorbond metal roofing.

Vertical metal louvers at the barn-shape apertures are replaced with selected concrete vent blocks to form perforated screens to filter excessive sunlight.

A key architecural element that is featured in this villa, is a circular staircase that gently swifts across the living hall, and reaches to the library on first floor and overlooking the living hall.  Cladded in blackened steel which functions as balustrade, with staircase treads topped with finished hardwood, creating an unique experience of travelling up to the first floor with changing sightlines across the double-volume living space, while withnessing someone spiralling up the circular staircase would be elegant and poised.

Corridor that leads to the master bedroom is further extended to the west wall, forming a viewing platform/lanai that overlooks the foyer, living hall, dry kitchen and library, forming interesting visual connections with these spacious.
