VILLA BAHARU
19

4,060 SQFT            2021

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT     ON-GOING

A series of vacant bungalow land plots with a desire to be sold for holiday villas, 3 plots of the prime lots are carefully selected for individual designed villas as show units to showcase the potential of a well-designed house is essential to well-beings of retirees or home-owners who travel back for short-term holidays.

In contrast to Villa Baharu 20, this house adopts a more contemporary approach for the overall design concept - terracotta fairface bricks laid in Flemish bond manner for the overall facade, strengthen with buttesses for any wall higher than 3m.

The roof form comprises of 2 major segments, with horizontal clerestory windows to capture morning rays into the double volume living hall.

Cladded in dark colorbond metal roofing, bended to form facade cladding, contrasting with the terracotta facade to achieve a unique combination.  Several modern barn roof forms are placed as fenestration and lanai spaces, to further accentuate the overall house form.

Entering the brick arched foyer and main door with circle top, passing through circular vertically louvered aperture that filters southwestern sun, one will reach a double volume living hall backed by a full height library, bathe in light, and accessible from a black steel dog-legged staircase.

Back to back to the living hall, is a dining hall accompanied with dry kitchen, spatially extendable to the outdoors from a sundeck.

Activities at the living hall can be observed from the library and full height grilled corridor cum art gallery, where rooms are also accessible from corridor.

Spatial & program connectivity is the key to the design of Villa Baharu 19, where occupants can visually connect & correspond to each other.
