VILLA BAHARU 20

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT ON-GOING
A series of vacant bungalow land plots with a desire to be sold for holiday villas, 3 plots of the prime lots are carefully selected for individual designed villas as show units to showcase the potential of a well-designed house is essential to well-beings of retirees or home-owners who travel back for short-term holidays.
We take on the challenge of designing a modern kampung house with biophilic approach, ie. in reference to site, orientation, sun & wind path, views, cultural references. The result - grandeur, simplicity, coherency in elements.
A wide boulevard with trees and shrubs on both sides leads to the main gate of the Villa, simulating a grandeur arrival yet discreet as the Villa will be screened by trees but gradually revealed as one gets closer to it.
The spaces of the house are selectively exposed to the morning rays and soothing views, yet screened away from scorching evening sun by using Jendela/Tingkap Labuh (full height windows replicate fenestration found in traditional Malay House), and also with large area of timber louvers.
Upon arrival to the house, guests will be greeted by a "Serambi" - a shaded, airy, semi-opened pergola, a best place to serve non-family members without compromise privacy by allowing them to access private zones of the house, especially during pandemic.
Once entered into Villa, a linear arrangement of living, dining & dry kitchen, stretches and maximises its length with a bedroom with access to rear pocket garden and a study/office on the side wing. A landscape pond lays in front of the double volume living space, drawing cool air into the interior space, crossed ventilated with sliding windows on the other side of living hall. Horizon view ends with a vertical garden, forms a perfect backdrop for the settings.
Sala - as requested by the client, an outdoor space surrounded by still water, is placed outside the study/office; it's an outdoor chatting area before one enters the office for private business conversation. It also has an outdoor deck as an extension of office space towards the nature.
A lengthy timber staircase supported by metal rods, continued by long corridor with its flooring cladded in warm hardwood; accompanying with different apertures of views to the outdoors, showered in west facing rays filtered by timber louver screens, beside leading owners to their respective rooms, after strolling across the upper level of double living hall, one will reach to a niched family hall overlooking the rear garden, triple-protected by Jendela, vermin screens and sliding folding glass panels.
Each bedrooms has its ensuite and spacious lanai (semi outdoor deck) as spatial extensions that allow ones to wake up closer to nature.
